Newcastle have made a €40 million bid for Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Bruno Guimares, a long-time target of Arsenal.
Guimares has attracted interest from a number of European clubs. Including Arsenal, Juventus, Manchester United and Newcastle after his impressive form this season.
Recently, journalist Fabricio Romano confirmed that Salikadon had made an offer of 40 million euros for Lyon. But has not received a response from both the club and the player.
In addition, L’Equipe, UFABET , the famous French media. The report adds that Newcastle have offered players a fourfold increase in wages.
Newcastle United’s Move
The newly found riches at St James’ Park means that Newcastle and Eddie Howe are looking to strengthen the squad to try and avert relegation to the Championship. They have already added Chris Wood from Burnley and Kieran Trippier to their ranks. RMC also report that the bid is around €40 million and the Northern English club are willing to quadruple the player’s wages.
Despite having the money to spend, Newcastle’s position in the Premier League is not helping them to attract the quality they are looking for. Diego Carlos of Sevilla had been linked with Eddie Howe’s side. But it now seems he will be remaining in La Liga this month. Although the club may return for him in the summer depending on what league they then find themselves in.
Guimares joined Lyon in 2020, signing a four and a half year deal when he joined from Athletico Paranaense for a fee reported to be around €20 million.
